We’re still working on the site (obviously). We should have the new look finished and lots of great new features very soon.
Friday, April 18
It was a beautiful day in the lower 80’s when Team WeeBee headed off for the 100 mile drive to Path Valley.
It was Ron S, Chris and Jeremy in the Team truck with Kerry and Alex. The Team had good feelings for tonight’s action. Just getting Alex’s car back and the problems that have plagued it was a great start. Now Alex’s car is making more horse power than ever before thanks to the boys at Hyper.
Chris was hoping for two top tens tonight to get things rolling for the season.
Alex qualified through his heat while Kerry didn’t look so good in the heat but still made it to the feature event. Alex starting 10th and Kerry 22nd out of 24. Chris and Jeremy made a gear change to Alex’s car on a recommendation by Kerry and major chassis and gear change to Kerry’s car as well.
It was quite an exciting race. The first lap of the feature made for three different crashes on the track with three cars upside down. The red was out for fifteen minutes while Jim Young was taken to the Hospital. When the race resumed both WeeBee cars moved up nicely, Alex moved up to 5th and Kerry up to 14th without even a lap on the board. A few laps had passed and Alex was holding his own but Kerry was on the move.
Then another yellow flag and a four car wreck in turns one and two. Kerry somehow went right through the middle and didn’t hit anything. At the halfway point in the race Alex fell back to 8th and Kerry ended up 9th. In a heartbeat the race got a lot more interesting.
Alex took off with Dad on his tail. Kerry dove low in turns one and two but Alex held him off. The next lap Kerry went low again and Alex held on again. Then in turns three and four Alex went high and passed a car on the outside and Kerry followed, but the guy on the low side shot a big rock out on the track that Kerry ran over. Nothing seemed to be wrong until last lap when the 1K car shut off due to a hole in the oil pan.
Alex was up to 4th again when the #99 car came off turns one and two and slid up the track and smashed into him against the wall. The crash crushed his nerf bar and header into the engine. The car made it to the end but didn’t run very well after that happened. Alex got a very respectable 7th and Kerry 11th. The bad news; it was a very tough night on parts for Team WeeBee.
Saturday April 19th
The team cancelled going to Ship not having all the parts needed to run.
Next up, back to Path Valley again this Friday night and if the 1K 600 doesn’t have a repaired motor talk is they will take the Sidewinder along for Kerry to run again.
Thanks for stopping by see you next week!
